How Soon Can I Finish My Hours?

  • For Teens: You can earn a maximum of 2 hours of credit per day, over a period of 16 days. After completing the 16 days and passing all assignments and tests with a satisfactory grade, you will receive full credit for Phase 1 of the Teen Driver’s Education Course.
  • For Adults: You can complete the 6-hour course in a single day. Once you pass the online permit test, you will be issued an ADE-1317 form, which you can use to obtain your permit at the Driver License Office.

When Do I Get My Permit?

Teens will receive their DE-964 form after completing the 6 hours of class and passing the permit test. Once you have finished the required hours, and achieved passing grades on all assignments and tests, you can visit your nearest DPS location with your DE-964 form and other supporting documents to obtain your permit. You will need this permit to begin Phase 2 of the Driver’s Education course.
